With over 30 years experience, Lead Fishing Guide Ray Blodgett and his Coast Guard-licensed crew, feel privileged to have been able to spend decades becoming familiar with three of the most fertile salmon fishing rivers in the world; the Little Susitna River, the Deshka River and the Talkeetna River, all located in the Matanuska Valley of south central Alaska. They know where to go! They know where the seasonal hot spots are and how to safely get you there. Alaska Fishing Report 05/23/11

Bart
Today, we met our anglers at 5:30 am, down at the Little Susitna Public Use Facility. We left the launch just before 6 am and started fishing a couple miles down. We saw plenty of moose action before our angler just about had the rod ripped out of his hands with a nice 25 pound King Salmon.

This Fish was chrome bright and had sea lice all over it. Our angler was thrilled after landing this King Salmon after a 10-15 minute fight. Nothing gets better when you hook a king on a beautiful morning like today.

After back trolling a few more holes, we saw more moose, a few eagles and a huge beaver swimming along the side of the boat. Then our other angler got a hit and "FISH ON"!!! She fought this 26 pound King Salmon like a pro! This fish was also chrome bright with sea lice still on it. Both these fish were fresh into the river and put a good fight. It was their first time King Salmon Fishing in Alaska. I think their hooked now, and they are some great people to fish with.
